1. Data Controller

2. Data Collected

We collect the following data:

Registration data: email address, password (hashed)
Profile data: username (optional)
Usage data: books created, illustrations generated, style preferences
Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited
Payment data: processed exclusively by Stripe (we do not store your bank details)

3. Purposes of Processing

Your data is processed for:

Creating and managing your user account
Providing the book creation services
Managing subscriptions and billing
Improving our services and the user experience
Sending communications related to your account (transactional only)
Complying with our legal obligations

4. Legal Basis

The processing of your data is based on:

Performance of the contract for the provision of services
Consent for non-essential communications
Legitimate interest for improving services and ensuring security
Legal obligation for the retention of billing data

5. Processors and Transfers

We use the following processors:

Supabase (Singapore) — database hosting and authentication
Vercel (United States) — website hosting
Stripe (United States) — payment processing
Anthropic (United States) — text generation via Claude AI
Google (United States) — illustration generation via Gemini AI

These transfers are governed by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

5 bis. Audience measurement (Google Analytics & Google Ads)

To understand how our site is used and improve our services, we use Google Analytics 4 (and Google Ads conversion measurement to evaluate our advertising campaigns). Processing is limited to anonymised audience measurement and conversions.

We use Google's advanced consent mode (Consent Mode v2 “advanced”): until you accept cookies via our banner, Google does not set any identifying cookie and only receives anonymised and aggregated signals (no client ID, with data redaction — ads_data_redaction parameter) used solely for statistical modelling. If you accept, measurement cookies are set and we measure your journey on a nominal basis (always pseudonymised by Google).

You can change your choice at any time via the “Manage cookies” link in the footer, and exercise your rights of access, objection and erasure (see section 7). See also Google's policies: Google Privacy Policy.

6. Retention Period

Account data: retained for the duration of the subscription + 3 years after the account is deleted
Billing data: 10 years (legal obligation)
Created content (books, illustrations): retained as long as the account is active, deleted 30 days after the account is deleted
Technical logs: 12 months

7. Your Rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

Right of access: obtain a copy of your personal data
Right to rectification: correct your inaccurate data
Right to erasure: request the deletion of your data
Right to portability: receive your data in a structured format
Right to object: object to the processing of your data
Right to restriction: restrict the processing of your data

8. Cookies

Maker Book uses exclusively technical cookies necessary for the operation of the service (authentication session, interface preferences). No advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies are placed.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data: SSL/TLS encryption, password hashing, access control, regular backups, and access monitoring.
